The Sussex Tenpin Bowling Association is proud to present a special fundraising tournament in support of our three Youth Bowling Clubs based in Crawley, Eastbourne and Worthing.

This exciting event is designed to bring bowlers together from across Sussex for a fantastic day of competitive bowling while helping support the future of youth bowling within the county.

This event will be played in a handicapped doubles format. Teams must consist of either: One player under the age of 22 and one player over 22 or one player under the age of 50 and the other player over 50.

3 games of qualifying, followed by quarter-final and semi-final knockout rounds.

All funds raised from both the tournament and raffle will be split equally between the Crawley, Eastbourne and Worthing YBCs to help continue supporting and developing youth bowling across Sussex.

The Sussex TBA remains committed to growing the sport and providing opportunities for young bowlers throughout the county. By taking part in this event, you will be directly helping our youth programmes continue to develop the next generation of bowlers.

BTBA sanction number 26/*****

TOURNAMENT RULES

1.       This tournament will be sanctioned by the BTBA (Sanction No. 26/*****) and conforms to the general playing and tournament rules of the BTBA (available to view on the BTBA website) together with the following additions.

2.       The tournament is open to members of the BTBA and registered with Sussex (proof of membership will be checked by reference to the members list at btba.org.uk). Non-members will be charged £10 and will not be eligible for BTBA services.

3.       Teams must consist of one player under 22 and one player over 22 or one player under 50 and one player over 50.

4.       The tournament will be handicapped throughout.

5.       Handicaps will be based on 85% of the difference of 220 and the entering average.

6.       All averages submitted must be the highest from tournament or league over 12 games.  If the average is less than 12 games, then the number of games must be declared.  If there is no average available, then the bowler will bowl off scratch. Falsification of averages may result in team disqualification and forfeiture of all prize monies and entry fees. Proof of entering average must be provided at registration.

7.       If an entering average has changed by more than 5 pins between entry and registration, this must be declared at registration.

8.       Once an entry had been paid and accepted no refunds can be made.  An entry may be sold however to an eligible replacement on the authority of the tournament manager.

9.       A provisional ball will be rolled if a dispute relating to pin fall cannot be resolved immediately.

10.    All protests must be made verbally to the tournament manager within 30 minutes of the infringement taking place and confirmed in writing to the same within 72 hours of the game in which the infraction occurred.  The decision of the tournament manager, on all matters, shall be final subject to appeal to the BTBA.

11.    Only registered entrants and instructors displaying a valid licence are allowed in the player’s area during the event. All entrants are reminded that food and drink is not allowed in the playing area and there will be no smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages for the duration of the tournament by any competitor. Failure to maintain these rules may result in disqualification without refund.

12.    Appropriate bowling attire must be worn for the duration of the tournament. This is at the discretion of the tournament manager. Non-religious headwear, vest tops and jeans will not be permitted. 

13.    Any player whose conduct is considered liable to bring the game into disrepute will be disqualified from the tournament.  Any individual so disqualified will be reported to the BTBA for consideration of disciplinary proceedings.

14.    Registration will begin at 08:30 when the doors will open at the bowling centre, 30 minutes prior to the start time of 09:00.

15.    Practice will start 7 minutes before roll off at 08:53

16.    In the events of a tie for any position the team with the HIGHEST LOW game within their bowled series will take the place.

17.    The tournament manager reserves the right to re-rate any entry.

18.    Before, during, and after the event there could be photography, filming or video taken of participants and winners by anyone attending the event, either as an official, spectator, parent or guardian. If you (as a participant, parent or guardian) object to this, you must make your objections known to the tournament manager prior to the event starting and reasonable adjustments will be made.

19.    All entry forms must be received prior to the closing date of Friday 24th July. Any entries received after this date will be accepted at the tournament manager’s discretion.  

20.    The tournament manager will be Kirstie Western, whose decision on all matters shall be final, subject to appeal to the BTBA. In the tournament manager’s absence, a nominated Deputy will be named.

21.    There will be 16 places. Three games of qualifying. A lane draw will determine lane allocation. After qualifying, the top 8 scoring teams with H/C will advance to the knockout “head-to-head” rounds. Head to heads will be based on one game only. The winning team from each match will advance to the next round until one team remains. Matches will be seeded #1 seed will play #8 seed, #2 seed will play #7 seed and so on.

22.    Teams will move lane after every game with the left team moving one pair to the left and the right team moving one pair to the right.

23.    There will be gold, silver and bronze medals.

24.    Funds raised will be split between the three Sussex YBCs evenly. There are no cash prizes.

25.    Entries will only be accepted if accompanied by the appropriate fee and will be on a first come first served basis.
