Bringing back the diamond 4s with a difference for 2025
The Sussex Tenpin Bowling Association is bringing back the popular diamond 4s tournament that was last run in 2015.
This year we will be changing things up. This event will be a combination of singles, scotch doubles, baker trios and team of 4.
The format will look like this:
Player A play 1 game of singles.
Players A & B play 1 game of scotch doubles.
Players A, B & C play 1 game of baker trios.
Players A, B, C & D play 1 game of fours.
Players B, C & D play 1 game of baker trios.
Players C & D play 1 game of scotch doubles.
Player D play 1 game of singles.
Taking place mid August at Hollywood Bowl, Crawley, this is a great opportunity to bowl in a team environment.

TOURNAMENT RULES
1. This tournament will be sanctioned by the BTBA (Sanction No. 25/xxxxx) and conforms to the general playing and tournament rules of the BTBA (available to view on the BTBA website) together with the following additions.
2. The tournament is open to BTBA members & members of any other national association in good standing. Non-members may take part by paying a £10 day membership fee to the local association. This gives temporary BTBA membership for the event only and does not include full member benefits beyond the tournament
3. The tournament will be handicapped throughout.
4. Handicaps will be based on 85% of the difference of 220 and the entering average. Scotch doubles the two player’s handicaps shall be added together and divided by two. Baker trios the three player’s handicaps will be added together and divided by 3. Decimals will always be rounded down.
5. Prize fund will be returned 100% and will be distributed proportionally as follows: 1st 57%, 2nd 28%, 3rd 15%.
6. All averages submitted must be the highest from tournament or league over 12 games. If the average is less than 12 games, then the number of games must be declared. If there is no average available, then the bowler will bowl off scratch. Falsification of averages may result in team disqualification and forfeiture of all prize monies and entry fees. Proof of entering average must be provided with entry.
7. Once an entry had been paid and accepted no refunds can be made. An entry may be sold however to an eligible replacement on the authority of the tournament manager.
8. A provisional ball will be rolled if a dispute relating to pin fall cannot be resolved immediately.
9. All protests must be made verbally to the tournament manager within 30 minutes of the infringement taking place and confirmed in writing to the same within 72 hours of the game in which the infraction occurred. The decision of the tournament manager, on all matters, shall be final subject to appeal to the BTBA.
10. Only registered entrants and instructors displaying a valid licence are allowed in the player’s area during the event. All entrants are reminded that food and drink is not allowed in the playing area and there will be no smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages for the duration of the tournament by any competitor. Failure to maintain these rules may result in disqualification without refund.
11. Appropriate bowling attire must be worn for the duration of the tournament. This is at the discretion of the tournament manager. Non-religious headwear, vest tops and jeans will not be permitted.
12. Any player whose conduct is considered liable to bring the game into disrepute will be disqualified from the tournament. Any individual so disqualified will be reported to the BTBA for consideration of disciplinary proceedings.
13. Registration will begin at 18:45, 30 minutes prior to the start time of 19:15.
14. In the event of a tie for any position the team with the HIGHEST scratch score (over all games played) will take the place. If still tied a single ball roll off will take place until tie is broken.
15. The tournament manager reserves the right to re-rate any entry.
16. Before, during, and after the event there could be photography, filming or video taken of participants and winners by anyone attending the event, either as an official, spectator, parent or guardian. If you (as a participant, parent or guardian) object to this, you must make your objections known to the tournament manager prior to the event starting and reasonable adjustments will be made.
17. All entry forms must be received prior to the closing date of Sunday 10th August 2025. Any entries received after this date will be accepted at the tournament manager’s discretion.
18. The tournament manager will be Kirstie Western, whose decision on all matters shall be final, subject to appeal to the BTBA. In the absence of the tournament manager, a nominated deputy will be named.
19. Teams will play the first singles doubles and trios on the same lane. Teams will then move lanes for the 4s and then again for the last trios, doubles and singles. Teams will play the tournament over 3 pairs of lanes.
20. Points will be awarded for each game. 10 points for the winner of each game, 9 points for 2nd place as follows down to 10th receiving 1 point. The winning team will be the team with the most points over all games.
21. Entries will only be accepted if accompanied by the appropriate fee and will be on a first come first served basis.
